About Jessica

Hey there! My name is Jessica Sebok Brooks, and I am a Midwest-based painter specializing in acrylic, oil, and watercolor portraiture. Growing up, I had what could only be described as an unusual obsession with drawing faces—capturing the expressions of everyone around me. That early fascination led me to earn my BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting and Drawing, and it continues to shape the heart of my work today.

For nearly a decade, I have painted wedding portraits and couples’ commissions, translating cherished photographs and meaningful moments into expressive, lasting works of art. Alongside building my commission practice, I’ve also had the joy of raising my family—an experience that has deepened my understanding of connection, legacy, and the fleeting beauty of each season of life. That perspective naturally finds its way into my paintings.

Portraiture is where I feel most at home. My strength lies in observing subtle expressions, body language, and color relationships that reveal personality and emotion. I strive not only for likeness, but for presence—creating portraits that feel alive and deeply personal. Whether in the studio or at a live event, my style is loose and richly textured, with bold, confident brushwork balanced by thoughtful attention to the small details that hold atmosphere and meaning. Each painting is created not only to resemble a scene, but to embody the feeling of the day.

There is something truly exhilarating about creating in real time—capturing a fleeting moment while guests gather to watch the painting come to life. It is both an artistic challenge and an incredible privilege.
