About Candler
Hi! I’m Candler, a live painter and fine artist working in acrylic and watercolor.
I’ve been painting for as long as I can remember and studied fine art in college, alongside an international affairs degree because I was fairly certain art couldn’t be my “real” career. Turns out… I was (happily) wrong. About eight years ago, a friend asked if I could paint a wedding. I had never done one before, nervously said yes anyway, and completely fell in love with it. I haven’t looked back since.
My work is full of color and texture. I love mixing loose, abstract elements with more true-to-life details. More than anything, whether I’m painting live or working on a commission, I want it to feel like you… the kind of piece that takes you right back to a moment, memory, or feeling you don’t want to forget.
I’m a southern girl, originally from Alabama, and happiest in the simple rhythms of home - hands in the garden, something cooking on the stove, arranging flowers or coffee in hand out on the porch. Most evenings you’ll find me in a rocking chair on the porch with my husband, Ian and our doodle, Rooney. Franklin, Tennessee is home, and I don’t think I’ll ever get over the rolling hills or how everything feels just a little slower here.
I love getting to step out of my little world and into my clients’ - to capture their people, their moments, their memories. It’s one of the most special parts of being an artist, and I feel so wildly blessed this is what I get to do!
Your future self will thank you for this keepsake.
